Working hard and playing hard.
My college years brought immeasurable growth, unforgettable adventures, and friendships that will follow me into my 20s and beyond. Entering the working world has reminded me time and time again just how shaping my time at Samford was to the trajectory of my personal and professional life after those four amazing years. Priceless opportunities were found around every corner, gifting me with stories I’ll be delighted to tell for decades to come.
Social Media Marketing in London
Summer after my freshman year, I had the opportunity to study abroad with Samford in London, where I studied Visual and Performing Arts, explored the city, and held a position as an intern with a local firm. I worked closely with Nicky Browne, the founder and owner of Mighty Oak Public Speaking, a program focused on teaching primary school students how to speak articulately and confidently. I crafted over 30 social media posts and reusable templates, wrote copy for email and other marketing endeavors, and provided support as needed in other areas.
Outside of working hours, I fell in love with London as I walked (and ate) through its many eclectic boroughs and their attractions. We hiked the White Cliffs of Dover, saw West End show a week, spent an unforgettable weekend in Paris, and memorized the London Underground and the walking route to our favorite gelato place. This was the exact push I needed coming off of freshman year, and I would give an arm, a leg, and a Ben’s cookie to go back!
Public Relations in Nashville
In preparation for my senior year, I worked as an intern with EPIC Agency, a national public relations agency based in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Over the course of 3 months, I delved deep into the world of PR. I learned how to craft press kits, write suggested questions for podcasts interviews, draft press releases, create and utilize media lists on Muckrack, and work with authors, speakers, filmmakers, and more. Over the course of the summer, I worked on over 15 different accounts in multiple industries within faith-based entertainment.
I simultaneously was able to play an integral role in the family business! My parents bought the dance studio I grew up in May of the previous year, and with over 15 years of competitive dance behind me I was thrilled to come alongside them and help bring their vision to life.
I found so much purpose and joy as a grew personally and professionally at a PR powerhouse right in my own backyard. I left that summer equipped and eager to take on whatever adult life was ready to throw at me.
Digital Marketing Strategy in Birmingham
Before I could move my tassel, I was set to begin my professional career in the city that I love. All glory to God! Since June of 2025, I have worked full time for a renowned architecture firm in Birmingham, Alabama as a marketing coordinator. Quickly given full reign over multiple social media accounts, event planning opportunities, and analytical sprints, I dived headfirst into learning everything I could. Once a student, always a student.
Remaining in Birmingham has provided countless opportunities to extend hospitality, deepen my community, and learn more about who I am becoming. Not to mention the long list of fabulous restaurants I have yet to try! While I would not be surprised if I found myself across the country this time next year, it has both stretching and comforting to make my college town my post-grad home in this formative season.
